Our nose is not only the focal point of our face, but the main avenue in which air reaches our lungs. Abnormalities in our nose can take away from the beauty and balance of our face and cause breathing problems such as snoring. Dallas plastic surgeon Dr. Meade uses rhinoplasty or nose surgery to improve the appearance of a misshaped nose.

Rhinoplasty is surgical procedure used to correct abnormalities of the nose. These abnormalities may have been caused by genetics or injury. In either case, Dallas rhinoplasty is a very effective surgery in correcting issues associated with misshaped noses. Some of the most common nose abnormalities corrected with nose surgery include addressing bumps on the bridge of the nose or a very round or bulbous tip of the nose or an over all very large nose may be made smaller. Using nose surgery, Dr. Meade is able to reshape your nose, restoring balance to your facial features.

If you would like to explore how rhinoplasty surgery can change your life, contact our office to schedule your confidential consultation. Our staff is ready to answer all of your cosmetic surgery questions.

There are a number of reasons a person considers a nose job or Rhinoplasty. Some have trouble breathing due to a structural abnormality while others simply do not like the way their nose fits in with the rest of their face. Rhinoplasty can correct the physiological issues as well as bring symmetry to a persons face. No matter what your reason for wanting to change your nose, Dallas plastic surgeon Dr. Meade can help you with all of your nose woes.

The nose has both an aesthetic and a physiological purpose. Physiologically, it is our main avenue through which we breathe. Aesthetically, the nose is a central focus of our face, providing balance and harmony to our facial features. The shape of the nose helps one to breathe properly, so if there are any abnormalities, either because of genetics or prior injury, ability to breath may be affected. In a similar way, when there is injury to the nose or some kind of abnormality the symmetry of ones face can be thrown off. Luckily, rhinoplasty can be used to correct most issues a person has with thir nose.

A consultation with Dr. Meade will help you determine how rhinoplasty can better your situation. Click here to schedule your consultation with Dr. Meade, a Dallas Board Certified Plastic Surgeon.

Is it necessary to break the nose bones during rhinoplasty surgery?

As with everything else in rhinoplasty, all you need to do is describe the top three things you want improved in the appearance of your nose. Your ABPS Board Certified Plastic Surgeon will then help you decide if you need this done to achieve what you want out of the operation.

It makes a big difference if you do it or not for your recovery. I find this step in the operation to be one of the major determinants of how your recovery will be. Without breaking the bones, the recovery is a breeze. With breaking them, you may have a mild case of black eyes, a splint on your nose for up to a couple of weeks, a little more swelling and thus discomfort, etcetera. That being said, I find myself doing it very often — because the patients anatomy needs it to achieve the goal.

Some reasons to break the bones of the nose are if they are too wide at the base. If they’re not too wide but there is a significant bump on the bridge of the nose that you’re going to have reduced then we need to break them to bring them together once the bump is shaved off. Another reason could be if the nose is really crooked. There’s a bunch of reasons, fortunately you don’t need to worry about them. Your rhinoplasty doctor should be able to explain to you if you’re going to need it or not…and sometimes he won’t know until during the actual operation. I wouldn’t suggest restricting your surgeon in this regard, he may need it to get you what you desire in your look for your new nose.

It depends, everyone will be a little bit different. The most important thing is that you find yourself a board certified plastic surgeon. Among us, there will be great variation in cost. The range will go from about 5 to 10 thousand dollars… that’s pretty average across the country nowadays. This figure includes the surgeon, the anesthesiologist and the operating room as well as the follow up visits after surgery.

It’s an outpatient surgery, meaning you can go home after you wake up. You’ll need to wait until you’re sixteen (that’s typically the earliest age most board certified plastic surgeons assign to do your surgery).

Most won’t discuss the exact cost until you go to their office for an evaluation, this way we know exactly what we’re dealing with. As you may imagine, we need to examine your nose, feel the cartilage and thickness of your skin, et cetera before planning your actual operation.
