Dallas Plastic Surgeon – Q & A
Ask Doctor Meade – Before and After Photos: Are they a good representation?
Great question. I thought about this when I was putting my photo album together so I included best and not so best results.
Don’t worry, there’s no deception to this. It’s like everything else, we’re just showing our best work. What you need to keep in mind is that is is helpful because you can see what your plastic surgeon has done before and see his comments about the photos. He may say, “look how beautiful this result is” and you think it looks like terrible. That’s an important evaluation to consider.
The other point to those photos along the same line is that you have to have something to strive for. If the best aren’t so hot, then that’s an answer as well.
Probably more importantly that all of that is that if you don’t look like any of those photos then ask if he has someone with your body frame. Although that doesn’t guarantee anything, it may help you feel a little more comfortable with where things are headed.

Dallas Cosmetic Surgery – Q & A
Ask Doctor Meade – More youthful breasts – how can I achieve them through Breast Implants?
This is an interesting question since you have lost some weight in the breast causing it to sag but it’s still a C. Unfortunately, no matter how many people blog about this subject we could all be talking about a different thing. Your board certified plastic surgeon must evaluate you and see what his thoughts are on the lift with an implant.
Many times a lift will achieve the more youthful breast that you seek. It will not give you any change in your upper pole fullness though. The breast lift repositions the nipple and areolar complex and tightens the breast envelope so that it’s once again somewhat more perky. I typically don’t do breast augmentations on women with C cup breasts. It may be necessary for upper pole fullness but if your breasts are already sagging with their own weight and an implant is put in there, the result is fairly predictable. Sutures can tighten the breast for a nice lift at one stage and then the implant can be placed once the wounds have healed and the tissues are strong enought to tolerate an implant.
This is a controversial topic because many will simply put the implant in under your breast tissue then perform a lift of the skin and areola of your breast. Again, the only way to know for sure will be to consult with your plastic surgeon. Hopefully these concepts help you ask him more direct questions on his logic for the choices that you’re considering.

Dallas Plastic Surgery – Q & A
Ask Doctor Meade – Should I wait until after Breastfeeding to have my breasts done?
It’s not even breast feeding that changes the breasts, what actually makes the difference is pregnancy. You could avoid breast feeding completely and you would still notice the breasts to enlarge and deflate after the child is delivered.
Perhaps waiting until you’re done with children is best for you, after all it seems to really be on your mind. That’s what I recommend to patients who are about to birth a baby.

Dallas Breast Implants – Q & A
Ask Doctor Meade – I’m an A Cup: How Big Can I Go?
It sounds reasonable but it really depends on what you’re wanting your look to be. I use high profile implants in patients that are your dimensions because they are the only way to get that size in when you’re so thin. Because you were pregnant, I’m hoping that your tissues stretched some and will accomodate these implants reasonably without having stretched beyond retraction (the taffy effect).
At first, these implants will look and feel tight. That’s because you put a big implant under a small breast. it’s clear to me that you are small, and that you know that you are small. It also seems clear that you know that these implants are nothing to scoff at.
Remember, what makes these look fake is when your breast tissue is tiny and the implants are huge. If you make a major exagerated change, then it will be a major exagerated augmentation (that’s not the case with you I’m just making clarification for other readers wanting to make major exagerated changes). We could blog about this all day but only the plastic surgeon that examines you will be able to communicate clearly because you have to get the measurements properly and feel the tissue elasticity and general breast tissue strength.
Also, who is to say what ‘fake’ means. The only way I communicate that to a patient is my looking at a bunch of pre and postop photos with the patient and give my opinion on if I think it looks fake or natural. That way you can see what I think looks natural or not.
I recently had someone tell me “I want them to look fake but natural”.
She may as well have said that because until you look at photos, it doesn’t matter what you or your plastic surgeon actually mean .. each of you could be imagining a totally different look. Rememer, a picture is worth around 7000 words (for silicone BA).
Best Wishes,

Plastic Surgery Dallas – Q & A
If I’m an A cup, small build and I want a C cup, should I err on the side of ’smaller is better’?
If you feel like you believe these blogs more than in your plastic surgeon, you don’t need another implant…you need another plastic surgeon.
Almost everybody your size wants a C cup. Well, almost everybody – some unique cases come to mind but it’s good to hear that you want a reasonable result. We’ve all done patients your size, lots. This is a very tasteful choice and your plastic surgeon probably wants you to look classy so don’t get too nervous by our blog comments.. we’re just blogging and you need to trust a plastic surgeon that examined you. The implant sounds a bit small to me also, but again, I haven’t examined you so he knows best. Another possibility is that you may have since gained a bit of confidence in the idea and now you’re comfortable with a larger implant… that happens often.
You’re an A and you want to be a C. Simple right? Not so. You should visit with your plastic surgeon while there’s still time to resize. Sometimes i’ll get patients to try on sizers in the office to get a feel for the implants she is choosing. She’ll look through the photo album and find someone with her features and we’ll know what implant that patient used. Lastly, a good communication tool is to bring in photos of girls with your figure and your desired breast size. This is just an estimate, you are not using it as a guarantee, but if you show your plastic surgeon a photo of a girl with what he sees as a D and you see as just right, then he’ll be using a different implant.
Think of the comments that you made during your first consultation. Those are very important to me when I’m listening to my patients expectations. If you said “I really want them to look natural on my body” or “I just don’t want them to be noticeable by everyone” or similar comments, then he’s trying to protect you from this social circumstance while still filling your soft tissue envelope according to his physical examination (when he measured you). It is very common to be hesitant on the size you’re picking and impossible for someone on this blog to tell you what size you should be using.
It’s nice to hear that you’ve selected silicone, I think that’s a good bet since your breasts will be more implant material than breast tissue so you want it to feel as natural as possible.
Best wishes on your augmentation, you’re probably going to look great with whichever implant you choose. In general, patients with your build are the easiest augmentations to get a result that looks smashing.

Dallas Plastic Surgery – Q & A
I’m very tall and weigh about 175 pounds – my surgeon recommended D size, high profile Breast Implants – are these too big for me?
It’s all a matter of your dimensions. You’re very tall and can carry larger implants but the profile is not what is going to make them look natural, it’s the size. This implant will take you into the D cup range and although you may be looking for that, it probably will not look as natural on your body as you’d like in the long run.
It’s easier to comment on than it is to see you in person and measure your dimensions, so hopefully you’ve been to a board certified plastic surgeon by the ABPS. He should be very familiar with this so be sure and clarify your priorities for the outcome of this surgery. It’s coming down to a choice between natural results or very large breasts.

Plastic Surgery Dallas – Q & A
I want to get rid of the stretch marks on my stomach, but I’m planning on having another child. Can I avoid a large Tummy Tuck scar?
I’d hold off until you’ve had your last child.
You’re not fat so forget liposuction – those lipo-tightening machines will work on your stretch marks about as well as the microdermabrasion you’ve had.
It’s tough to see how long your scar will need to be. Just sit down and look down .. that’s how long the scar needs to be for your tummy tuck. It’s nice to have a scarless abdomen, but not so nice if when you crouch or sit it’s full of rolls. In that case, there’s a bunch of lines on your abdomen anyway.
Save your money on all those treatments people keep selling you for stretchmarks… none of them work. Instead of save up for your tummy tuck, once you get it done you’re gonna be so glad that you did.
You’re a great candidate and you’ll be even better after another child but make sure that you’ve gotten used to the scar that’s involved. Sounds like you’ve not basted in the idea long enough just yet. When that day comes, you should go for it.

Dallas Plastic Surgeon – Q & A
Can I have liposuction and breast augmentation performed at the same time?
These two procedures are often combined, so we know it’s safe. The more important question I think is how to approach your PS about a lumpy result in your lower leg area liposuction. It’s simple– just bring it up openly. We all know that those areas are fraught with complications. Most board certified plastic surgeons don’t even do those areas at all because of what you’re currently concerned with.
Because the solution could be in the use of fat grafting, while you’re doing your thigh suction maybe there is a role for correcting the deformity of the calves/ankles. Correcting these deformities is not a sure fire thing unfortunately, so be sure you’re completely aware of what the possibilities are this time around.
At this point, it’s surprising that you’re surprised, and unusual that you’re not sure how to bring it up. You should be really confident with him about discussing everything. Don’t worry about offending anyone, you won’t. He’ll take pride in his work and surely want to improve it if possible.

Dallas Cosmetic Surgeon Q & A
How much does breast implants surgery cost?
The price for this surgery varies according to some selections you make. Choosing gel implants will increase the cost by about a thousand dollars. If you use a board certified plastic surgeon, silicone implants, MD anesthesiology and a AAAASF certified surgery center (which I think all patients should) then the cost almost can’t go below about 6 thousand. I’ve tried to make it work out at several different costs for family members and it just can’t go below that.
As time has gone by, I raised my charges to up to $5000 and then in the current economic recession we’ve corrected the cost individually with patients according to their selections and method of payment. These numbers are a good ballpark average that you are shopping in. If you let any of the above mentioned items slip, which I don’t recommend, then you may be able to get the price down, but safety and quality could be lessened.
Find a board certified plastic surgeon that makes you feel like the cost he is giving you is fair. Even though the cost is critical, it can’t be the focus of your selection or you’ll potentially end up in the wrong hands.
