For women who want a curvier figure or who wish to recover their natural pre-pregnancy curves, breast augmentation can offer an ideal solution.
Dr. Ricardo A. Meade is a board certified plastic surgeon and breast augmentation specialist serving the entire Dallas-Ft. Worth metro area, with offices in Dallas and Plano, Texas. In addition to breast enlargement, Dr. Meade offers a full range of breast enhancement procedures, and has helped thousands of women feel more confident about their appearance.
Technically known as augmentation mammaplasty, breast augmentation uses saline or silicone breast implants to increase your cup size. Available in a wide range of shapes, sizes and profiles, breast implants can give you results that range from dramatic to subtly enhanced. Breast augmentation can also help improve a tuberous breast shape or even correct asymmetry between breasts, and is often included as part of a mommy makeover.
Please contact us online or call 214-823-1691 for more information on breast augmentation surgery at our Dallas or Plano plastic surgery offices. We encourage you to view breast implant photos in our real patient before and after photo gallery to get a better sense of what this procedure can achieve.
Meeting in person with Dr. Meade will give you the chance to discuss your personal goals for breast augmentation surgery. During the consult he will go over what you can expect during your surgery and recovery, and provide an explanation of the options available, such as which type of implant will give you the look you want. You’ll have a chance to get all your questions answered and will be provided with a cost estimate for your breast augmentation with detailed price information.
As the time gets closer to your surgery, Dr. Meade may request specific lab tests or medical evaluations, along with potentially adjusting current vitamins, supplements or prescriptions you may be taking. Women who are over age 35 are asked to schedule a pre-surgery mammogram to establish a baseline and note any irregularities. You will also need to avoid the consumption of alcohol and drugs, and abstain from smoking for a certain period before and after surgery.
There are many different possibilities when it comes to breast augmentation:
Implant Type, Shape and Profile: Dr. Meade can explain the pros and cons of current options in cutting edge breast implants, including “gummy bear” implants, ultra-high profile implants, teardrop implants, gel breast implants and many more. This discussion can help you feel confident that you’re making the choice that’s right for you.
Size: Implants are measured by volume rather than bra size, but Dr. Meade can help you understand any unfamiliar terminology so you can be sure you’re picking the best implant size to help you achieve your cosmetic goals.
Incision Placement: Even the decision about where to place incisions during surgery can affect your final result. Dr. Meade works closely with you to make sure you understand all your options.
Breast augmentation can increase the size of your breasts, but won’t affect their position on the chest wall. For women who notice sagginess or drooping, breast implants can be combined with a breast lift for breasts that are not only larger but also feel firmer and look perkier.
Dr. Meade will choose a specific surgical technique based on a number of different factors including your natural anatomy, whether a breast lift is included at the same time, and the type of implant being used. All of the possible options will be discussed in more detail during your consultation with Dr. Meade.
Recovery after breast augmentation is a very individualized process, but there are some common effects you can expect, such as swelling. Typically, our patients feel comfortable enough during recovery that they don’t even finish a prescription of 40 pain pills. To avoid complications, it’s important to strictly follow Dr. Meade’s post-surgical instructions.
Although recovery time is different for every woman, Dr. Meade recommends at least 4 days to rest with little physical activity, plus an additional 10 to 14 days of avoiding strenuous physical exercise. Limiting your fluid intake and mild exercise such as easy walking is recommended. It’s important to avoid heavy lifting, especially above the head, for at least 4 to 6 weeks after surgery.
You should see an immediate change in your breast size, with continued improvement as swelling subsides. The final results of your breast implants will be sexier new curves that you can enjoy for many years to come.
