Dr. Meade's Versatile Lip Rejuvenation

Dr. Meade will make a delicate incision below the base of the nose and gently lift the upper lip to shorten the span so that the lip appears more youthful and exposes more of the deep pink, luscious color. The result is a lip that looks rejuvenated and more defined.

Understand that there is no standard age for a lip lift procedure, and Dr. Meade has helped many children suffering from cleft palates. However, when it comes to a Dallas lip lift, some people will undergo this surgery in their 20s, while others will choose it in their 60s or even their 70s when their skin has become more lax or wrinkled.

What are the Benefits of a Lip Lift?

A lip lift offers several benefits, including enhanced lip volume and contour, a shorter distance between the nose and upper lip (philtrum), and correction of a "long" or "thin" upper lip. Additionally, the procedure rejuvenates the perioral area by reducing fine lines, wrinkles, and sagging skin. With permanent results and minimal scarring, patients often experience increased confidence and satisfaction with their appearance post-procedure.

Who is a Candidate for a Lip Lift?

Candidates for a lip lift typically include individuals who are bothered by a long or thin upper lip, asymmetry in lip shape, or a significant distance between the nose and upper lip (philtrum). They should be in good overall health and have realistic expectations about the outcomes of the procedure. It's essential for candidates to discuss their concerns and goals with Dr. Meade to determine if they are suitable candidates for a lip lift and to explore the most appropriate treatment options.

Your Lip Lift Consultation

Your initial consultation is the time for you to express your personal goals as to what you'd like to change or enhance about your appearance. Dr. Meade will patiently listen and may present insights into procedures or modalities to help you reach your goals. For example, procedures like our lip lift in Dallas, or our chin implant work great when paired with other facial enhancements like a neck or brow lift

All of these can be discussed during this meeting. Once a plan is agreed upon, you'll be presented with a precise, outlined estimate of the costs and the next steps.

Preparing for Your Lip Lift

The preparation and post-surgery instructions are critical to follow for optimal results. As such, Dr. Meade may ask the following of you:

  • To undergo other medical evaluations.
  • Adjust or cease taking medication and dietary supplements.
  • To stop smoking and the consumption of alcohol and drugs.
  • Ensure you are well-hydrated, especially in the days leading up to your surgery.

The Lip Lift Procedure

Lip Lift surgery is not a painful procedure. We administer a local anesthetic into the upper lip area to begin the process. This quickly numbs deeper layers of the skin and the superficial tissue that will be repositioned, resulting in a more youthful and luscious appearance.

Recovery and Results

Unlike dermal filler lip lifts, which typically last 6 to 18 months, a surgical lip lift will last many years. In some rare cases, a patient may opt to undergo a 'touch-up' lip lift, usually done to make a minor adjustment.

We're often asked if a lip lift will change the patient's smile. It will, slightly, but as the procedure heals and 'settles in,' most are pleased with the resulting, more youthful look.
