Facelift and Necklift Synergy

Facelift surgery treats lax skin, lower face drooping from the cheeks to the jawline, and sagging jowls. A neck lift creates a tighter, more refined neck and chin without a too-tight or exaggerated effect. These two combine perfectly for comprehensive rejuvenation.

What Is a Neck Lift?

A neck lift, also known as platysmaplasty, is a cosmetic surgery designed to reshape and rejuvenate the neck and jawline by addressing the visible signs of aging, such as sagging skin, fatty deposits, and muscle laxity. The procedure targets common concerns like loose skin, jowls, and vertical neck bands, restoring a smoother, firmer, and more youthful appearance.

During neck lift surgery in Dallas, Dr. Meade makes carefully placed incisions, typically behind the ears or under the chin, to minimize visible scarring. Through these incisions, excess fat is removed, and the platysma muscles (the vertical muscles of the neck) are tightened or repositioned to correct sagging. The skin is then redraped over the newly contoured muscles, and any excess skin is excised for a tighter, more defined neck and jawline.

A neck lift is particularly effective for patients who experience age-related sagging or those with genetically predisposed features that cause the neck to appear more aged. The procedure can be performed alone or combined with other facial procedures, like a facelift or liposuction, for comprehensive facial rejuvenation.

A Private Consultation

Your journey at Meade Aesthetic Surgery will begin with a one-on-one consultation with Dr. Meade. There, you’ll discuss your aesthetic goals, ask questions, and review your medical history, and Dr. Meade will evaluate your neck anatomy, skin health, and muscle tone to determine if a neck lift in Dallas is right for you.

What to Expect From Your Neck Lift at Meade Aesthetic Surgery

Ahead of your procedure, a member of our medical team will administer general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation to ensure your comfort during surgery. Once you’re ready, Dr. Meade will begin by making strategic incisions behind the ears and under the chin to access and lift the underlying tissues. All incisions will be closed by small sutures to promote skin tightening and smooth healing.

Patient-Centered Recovery in Dallas

Recovery after a neck lift typically involves mild swelling, bruising, and tenderness along the neck and jaw, which should resolve within two weeks. Many of our patients spend the first night after surgery in private recovery suite with a dedicated caregiver, ensuring close care and attention. You may need to wear a compressive bandage or wrap to support your healing tissues and reduce swelling, and you’ll need to rest for at least two weeks before resuming light activity.

After your procedure, you’ll receive comprehensive aftercare instructions from our team, which should include the following items:

  • Incision site care and cleaning protocols
  • Skin care and hygiene recommendations
  • Supportive garment guidance
  • Sun protection and exposure requirements
  • Activity limitations
  • Sleep position restrictions
  • Pain and swelling management strategies

You’ll return to our Dallas office several times over the coming weeks for follow-up visits. There, Dr. Meade will evaluate your healing progress, remove any remaining sutures, and approve you to return to strenuous activities, like high-impact exercise and contact sports. Most patients return to social gatherings within two weeks of their procedure, but you may choose to wait until residual swelling has dissipated, which could take several weeks.

Frequently Asked Questions Neck Lift

How long does a neck lift procedure take?

Most neck lifts take between two to three hours to complete, depending on the surgical complexity and whether other procedures are performed in the same session. Dr. Meade will walk you through an expected timeline during your consultation.

Will a neck lift help with horizontal neck lines?

Yes. A neck lift can improve the appearance of horizontal neck lines, known as tech neck, by tightening the skin and underlying muscles. Additional treatments like laser skin resurfacing and injectables can help with deep-set lines.

How long will my results last?

The final results of your neck lift are designed to be long-lasting, with many patients enjoying their outcomes for 10-15 years or longer. You can extend the longevity of your results by maintaining a consistent skin care routine, establishing healthy lifestyle habits, and undergoing non-surgical maintenance treatments in the future.

Will a neck lift change my voice?

No. A neck lift removes and repositions excess skin and fat along the neck and does not affect the voice. Dr. Meade works with extreme precision to avoid altering your speech and interfering with your vocal cords.

Can I have a neck lift if I’ve already had one before?

Yes. Dr. Meade can perform a secondary, or revision, neck lift if signs of aging return after several years. During your consultation, Dr. Meade will assess your skin condition to determine if a revision neck lift is the right approach for you.
